Trip Safety Requirements PFDs must be worn at all times while in your kayak;
A sprayskirt is required unless otherwise specified as a rec boat paddle;
Transport Canada requirements for equipment is also a HOC trip requirement: 15m of buoyant heaving tow line, sound signal device, bailing device, watertight light for ½ hour before sunset or ½ hour after dawn;
Wet exit practice (formally called wet exit lesson) within the last 12 months in the current kayak that you are using for a trip;
Kayak with sealed fore and aft bulkhead compartments unless specified as a rec boat paddle;
A minimum of one spare paddle per 2 participants

Trip Details Meet at Eric Thomlinson Access Ramp to drop off kayak and gear.
Recreational Kayak appropriate (poly/plastic) /Canoe , Not recommend for sea kayaks ( use at own risk), begins at Glen Morris, finishes at Paris. This will be a self /partner car shuttle trip. Drop off gear and then drive cars to parking lot at Penman's Dam (Paris). The spring flow of the river will determine the amount of time we go down the river. Bring lunch, snacks, water, dress for cold water immersion. Dry suit, wet suit , appropriate cold water clothes. Change of clothes, towel. Depending on volume of water may experience low gravel points in the river during the trip. 10km distance
Be on water by 12:45pm, 10km paddle ( 4-5 hours) depending on current
