Sat. Feb. 20 – Bronte Creek Provincial Park Snowshoe – Day use side
Start Time: 1:00 p.m. Finish 3:00 – 3:30 p.m.
Leaders: Sue & Frank Elias s-elias@cogeco.ca
Meeting Location: Bronte Creek Provincial Park Parking Lot C. This is the Day use side off of Burloak, not the camping side.
Distance: approx. 5 km.
Terrain: Basically level terrain. Snow covered paths and open snow covered fields.
Pace: Slow: 3 km per hour as we hope to be walking in the snow covered fields as much as possible.
Description: Park at Parking lot C, then we will meet at the picnic tables near the swings, right by the parking lot. From there we will head past the Children’s Farm (with open heated washrooms). Then to the fields behind the toboggan hill heading to the Spruce Lane Farmhouse and the Trillium Trail. After we finish the Trillium Trail people can look at the animals in the farm while others use the washrooms near Spruce Lane Farmhouse.
Notes:
1. There is a fee of $18 to enter Bronte Creek Provincial Park.
2. Poles are recommended, but not necessary. We will be walking through a couple of ditches and other uneven ground to get to some of the fields. Bring water and snacks if needed. Please use washrooms before arriving.
3. On February 14 both the Children’s Farm and the Spruce Lane Farmhouse heated washrooms were open so we assume they will be open for our trip.
4. Plan to come at least 15 minutes early as line-ups have been long recently to get into the park.
The club’s Covid-19 Safety Guidelines will be observed. Masks at the start and social distancing. The park requires people to wear masks if using the washrooms.
