GENERAL LOCATION
Van Wagners Beach Rd., just off QE, just north of Barangas and Wild Water works
START TIME
Hike start at 2:00 pm, please arrive 1:45 to meet in parking lot

280 Van Wagners Beach Rd., Hamilton
Hutchs parking lot, to the south side, I will park at least half way down the parking lot for visibility. Silver vehicle.

Approx. 2 hrs total. There is an option to cut the hike shorter to 1 hr, if you wish. Our parking lot and cars will be at the 1hr. mid point of the hike.

i.e. loop or out and back
Out & back, in two opposite directions from the meeting parking lot.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Point of interests
Waterfront, interesting trees along the way and views of Toronto if we have a clear day. We will walk 1/2 hr. to approximately to Wild Water Works and then turn back. Then 1/2 hr. North and back. Can be windy, be prepared.
REGISTRATION REQUIRED
Yes. A Must. Leaders appreciate early registration and at least 24 hours before the event.
CANCELLATION
• If your plans change, please self-cancel as soon as possible so that other HOC members may take your spot.
• The club may cancel due to bad weather that may impact the safety of participants or due to low attendance.
REGISTRATION OPENS
Two weeks before the hike. Up to 10 hikers are welcome to participate in this event.
WHAT TO BRING
• Wear supportive footwear with good tread. Hiking poles if you wish, but on smooth pavement the whole time
• Dress in layers according to weather and carry waterproof rainwear just in case.
• Bring snacks and water (mandatory please). If you don’t know why, ask on the walk.
• Sun and bug protection if necessary
IMPORTANT COVID REMINDERS
The club’s Covid-19 Safety Guidelines will be observed.
GUIDING NOTES:
HIKE PACE - Leisure: 3 km/hr or less. Moderate: 3-4 km/hr or Fast: 4-5km/hr. All paces are average and depending on the terrain.
TERRAIN - Easy: mostly flat and usually good footing (i.e. rail trails, Confederation Park, Bay Front Park), Moderate: some hills and/or poor footing (Bruce Trail, Dundas Valley, etc.) and Challenging: steep hills and strenuous footing (Bruce Trail, some trails in Short Hills, Dundas Valley and Red Hill Valley). Please note variations can be expected with weather conditions.
