Point of interests
From the park, we will head along the multi-purpose trails on Upper Middle Rd, West of Third Line – north side to Bronte Road. Head back and cross over at Grand Oak Trail, and come back the south side to Upper Middle Rd.
Enjoy a full body work-out.

WHAT TO BRING
This is a Nordic Walk so bring your telescoping hiking/walking poles with rubber booties as we will be on asphalt and concrete. We will have demonstration poles and booties available.

GUIDING NOTES:
HIKE PACE - Leisure: 3 km/hr. or less. Moderate: 3-4 km/hr. or Fast: 4-5km/hr. All paces are an average and will depend on the terrain and weather. Rest stops are not included in the overall pace.
TERRAIN - Easy: mostly flat and usually good footing (i.e. rail trails, Confederation Park, Bay Front Park), Moderate: some hills and/or poor footing (Bruce Trail, Dundas Valley, etc.) and Challenging: steep long hills and strenuous footing (some parts of the Bruce Trail, some trails in Short Hills, up and down the escarpment). Please note variations can be expected with wet or icy conditions.

City View Park, 2500 Kerns Rd labelled South Entrance. The parking lot is accessible by driving on Dundas St to Kerns Rd, go south and turn into the 1st parking lot closest to the corner of Dundas St and Kerns Rd. From North Service Road turn at Kerns Road up towards Dundas.

Level 2: Georgian Trail: Thornbury to Meaford Part of the Tom Thompson Trail (Part 3 of 3)

We stop for a coffee in Meaford. We will have another break at a beach park in Meaford and then head back to Thornbury. Pack snacks to have at the park.

From trail junction we will follow Bruce Trail to Dominion Trail. Short out and back to waterfall and return. South on Bruce Trail and gradually loop back to trail junction then Trail to parking lot. Varied and scenic terrain.

From the park, we head south on Neyagawa Blvd. We cross under Neyagawa and do a small part of the 16 Mile Creek Heritage Trail East Bank (gravel/packed dirt) before going onto the bridge that goes over Upper Middle Road. We will then continue south on the 16 Mile Creek Trail overlooking Glen Abbey golf course.

Here we go again! The Caledon section of the Bruce Trail offers spectacular views, rolling hills, farmland, mature woodlots and deep ravines. Eleven hikes will cover the “70 kms” and several of the side trails over three seasons this year.
Hike #10 will have some great variety to break up the Ups and Downs. There will be three lengthy Side Trails (Tom East, Isabel East, and Cam Snell) mixed in with the main Bruce Trail. Ponds, streams, rolling woodlands, valleys!!
Registration opens 2 weeks before the hike. Up to 25 Hikers are welcome to participate in this event.

• Bring snacks and enough water for the duration of the hike. MIN. 2 litres!!

Description: Enjoy two days of hiking on some of the most beautiful areas of the Bruce Trail. We will hike in the Beaver Valley to Hoggs Falls before spending some time in Eugenia and Eugenia Falls. The second day will take us to the trails of the Sydenham River Valley, Harrison Park and Inglis Falls Conservation Aea. We will be hiking on the Bruce Trail so expect some typical Bruce Trail, with ups and downs, rocks and roots.

Hidden Valley has many possible meeting spots so follow the link exactly. When you first enter the park, watch for a bridge over the creek. After you cross the bridge, veer to the right, into the parking lot across the road from the Baseball Diamond on the left. It is the entrance near park facilities on the right.

Out and back hike with a loop in the Hendrie Valley to Laking Garden. For an extra challenge we will hike up and down “Heartbreak Hill” aka Valley Inn Hill, a 500-meter climb which is part of the Around the Bay Race in Hamilton.
Part of the Hendrie Valley Nature Reserve. The wetlands and marshes are popular for birdwatching. Grindstone Creek is popular for salmon spawning. Wide trails for the most part.

Loop hike around the lake on the boardwalk followed by a hike on the Bruce Trail loop. The Escarpment Trail and Nassagaweya Canyon Trail have some strenuous rocky sections.
Crawford Lake, a meromictic lake of scientific interest, follow the boardwalk around the lake, hike to the lookout and views across Nassagaweya Canyon.

Today’s hike will pass over glacial deposits which account for the numerous gravel pits in the area. There will be views from the Oakridge Moraine and we will pass through some mature hardwood forests. To break up the road walking we will explore the Songbird Side Trail.

A large loop.
We will hike the rail trail up to Iroquoia Heights Conservation Area and return along the brow and back vis the Chedoke stairs. Expect wonderful views over the west end of Hamilton and Dundas. We will also talk about the Cross of Lorraine and the history of this area.
After the hike, there will be an option for a drink or bite to eat at the West Town Grill on Locke Street.

We will follow the Bruce Trail into Crawford Lake for a loop hike and take in the views of Burlington and beyond. The carvings around the lake are a bonus. We will return past the cars at the 9 km. mark and then continue to Derry Road and back. A great spot for 11 zee, many options for an extra stop. A GREAT hike!

Travelling north on Hwy#6 north, take Regional Highway #97 west (left), just before Freelton. Drive about 2kms on #97, looking for a sign on your right for Middletown Road. Turn right on Middletown Rd. and drive a few hundred meters up to where the road dead ends. Park at the dead end.

Moderate. Wide trail with generally good footing but there may be muddy areas. Some hills. Not a busy trail.
There and back, in two stages. (we park in the middle of the hike)
Board walk, wetland, cedar swamp, sweeping views of rural landscape.

2026 ITALY / AUSTRIA SKI TRIP

We are returning to Toblach, Italy and Seefeld, Austria to ski some of the finest cross-country trail networks in Europe. Other winter activity opportunities include extensive winter hiking trails, snowshoeing, downhill skiing, and sightseeing.
Accommodation: One week at the Hotel Villa Monica in Toblach, Italy with half board (all breakfasts and dinners). One week at Hotel Bergland in Seefeld, Austria with an all-inclusive package (see details on the Trip Information Sheet).

We are heading to two beautiful parts of England: the scenic Peak District National Park and The Cornish Coast near the idyllic town of St. Ives. Accommodation during both weeks will be at HF Holidays country houses, where we will enjoy a wide variety of hiking options. We will travel from one area to the other, by coach bus, stopping for a night in the town of Plymouth.
In each location, well-trained volunteer guides lead 3 levels of hikes on every hiking day. There are opportunities to explore local areas and sightsee on your own.
Accommodation: One week at ‘The Peveril of the Peak’, Dovedale, Derbyshire in the Peak District and our second week will be based at “Chy Morvah”, Cornish for “house by the sea”, HF’s country house in St. Ives, Cornwall.
Cost: $6832 for double occupancy and $7063 for single occupancy.
Number of participants: 26 total, including the leaders. Eight of these spots are reserved for single occupancy.
